Merry Christmas!!

So, I originally drew this for a Christmas art exchange, but I ended up not being able to go :(

Anywho, Christmas is just around the corner, so here is some art for yoooooou. I like hot chocolate and Christmas clothes, so that's what you get. Also it's on a girl.

Fish Bowl Progress

So I thought it might be fun just to see a few of the steps it took to make this illustration. So here you go! Enjoy!
This first one is the original sketch I doodled on a spare piece of paper. It was probably during something important. Oops. Anywho, I doodled it with pen and thought it was pretty cool, so I later proceeded to the next step which was....

Redrawing it in pencil and making it more detailed and stuff! To do this, I scanned the original doodle, enlarged in in photoshop, lightened it, and printed it out a lot larger. Then I carefully penciled the stuff I actually wanted. Then...

I started coloring it! Partyyyyyy. This is where I pick the colors that I want to use and see how they work together. After that, I add the darks and the lights and the shading and whatnot. And you get what I posted yesterday. Yeaaaaaaah!

Well, I hope this was informative or something to somebody. Also, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me. I'd love to help you out :]

I'll be posting parts of the process of making this soon, so stay tuned!

I just made this for my mother. She makes and sells really cute and awesome quilts and wanted a logo-type-thing. So I gladly made one for her :]

Braids

I'm now taking character commissions over on good 'ol deviantArt if you're interested. Check it out!

This was done shortly after Sam Weber came to visit us at BYU. When he looked at my work, he said that I needed to draw people doing more than just standing there.

"Draw some girls braiding each other's hair or something." -Sam Weber

Thanks, Sam Weber. You're seriously super awesome.

Another Redone Thing

Redid another old drawing. The original is at the beginning of my previous post if you wanna compare.

This took me an hour. The previous version took me....a lot longer than that.

Old Artworks Re-sketched

If you read my past blog post, you'll know that a few weeks ago I felt like I needed to do something artistic. I decided to re-sketch a bunch of old artwork. Here's most of them that I did. Keep in mind that I did these all under about 5 minutes each, so they obviously aren't perfect or anything. I was mainly focusing on structure and making the characters look more interesting and stylized.

That bunny still sucks really bad, haha.

I drew this old one based on somebody's webcomic a long time ago. I don't remember who's, but there ya go, haha.

This is the original sketch of the one I did a finished digital painting of. Just in case you guys wanted to see it :]

Also, would any of you guys like to see any of these finished up and colored? If so, let me now which one(s), and I might just do them. If you don't, I might just do some anyway for practice, haha.

Pinocchio Character Designs

I'm taking a concept art class from Jake Parker this semester, and we all just finished our character designs. This is what I came up with:

Redoing Art is Cool

So this really cool guy named Sam Weber came to my school the other day to grace us with his presence and enlighten our minds with artsy stuff. After he was done, I realized that I need to kick my butt into gear and start making more art that I can use for portfolios and hopefully help me get future jobs.

I couldn't really think of anything that great to create then though, so I thought it would be a cool idea to redraw a bunch of my really old work to get my pencil moving. I went through about 20-30 old drawings just doing rough sketches. Then I came to this old thing and thought it would be cool to just redo the whole artwork and make it way better.

I whipped this up around 4-5 years ago.

And now for the newer version:

Ta da!

This was really fun and a great way to see how much I've improved since I was 15.

I might upload a few of the sketches I did with their older counterparts later for fun

I really liked this girl I had in my sketchbook and I wanted to see what she would look with color. Here ya go!

INKtober-5

Day 5. This is probably one of my favorite things I've ever drawn. Ever. I mean seriously, look at that thing. What is it? I don't know. I don't even know. But I like it.

INKtober-4

I decided I'm going to do INKtober! I'm a few days late, so I'll just pretend this is number four. INKtober is a thing that one of my professors, Jake Parker came up with a few years back. I've never really inked much, so this'll probably be good for me. Anywho, day one(I mean.....four. yup), an alien creature!

Stay tuned for tomorrow! And all the other days this month!

I'm trying to update this more, so here you go! I'll probably be coloring some of these sketches soon to practice. Enjoy!

P.S. I just realized how many derpy faces were in the last post, haha

Sketch Dump

So I accidentally haven't posted anything for a while.  I plan on fixing that. So I'm taking a bunch of cool classes this semester. One class that I don't particularly enjoy is Art History. I like the subject kinda, but my teacher bores me half to death and it goes on for ever and ever. And it's only an hour and a half. But it feels like ten years each time. Anywho, most of these sketches are from class class. I promise I pay attention, too. Kinda.

I have more cool things I'm going to be posting later, so keep an eye out for them!

Also, I got a twitter account! Follow me at DawAlyssa if you wanna!

Pink Hair

I asked my sister's friend to name her for me since I never name the people I draw. She came up with Sparkles. So her name is Sparkles, haha.

Sunburns are dumb

Went to the beach. Forgot to put on sunscreen. Gonna be hurting for about a week. On the bright side, I'll never forget to wear sunscreen again, haha. But seriously, this is why ginger kids should never ever go out in the sun. Ever.

This is how I walked around my house all day, haha.

Monday, July 25, 2011

I saw Captain America the other day, and it inspired me to draw this. I haven't digitally painted like this in a while, and it felt really awesome. Enjoy!

Crayons are Fun

So, when I go to my friend Vivienne's house, I usually end up coloring with crayons. Here's what I did this time! I love crayons.

Then I inked it. I've discovered lately that I really like inking with real pens instead of photoshop stuff. It's more fun!

Then I colored it. Enjoy!

Rain

I love the rain! Except when my hair is supposed to be straight at the time. Enjoy!

Ice Cream

I'm finally getting back into the habit of drawing regularly. Hopefully this keeps up, haha.
I was in the mood to draw something cute today :) Stay tuned for more stuff, and I hope you like it!

Artists Help Japan

I made this a couple months ago for one of my classes. We were supposed to design a poster for Artists Help Japan. It was a really great assignment and I learned a lot about how to lay out something before I actually go into drawing it and all that jazz.

Mr. Poe

This is an older one, but I am still quite fond of it.

Alice and the Cheshire Cat

I've always wanted to do some kind of illustration with an Alice in Wonderland subject. Then I got the assignment in my digital painting class to make an illustration for a children's book and I couldn't pass it up. Actually I'm pretty sure my teacher came up with the idea, but I did always want to do it, I promise. I just forgot about it at the time, haha.

Missile Mouse

I made this for my professor, Jake Parker. He has a graphic novel called 'Missile Mouse'. His work isreally awesome and you should go check it out!

Hey guys! This is my first post. I'm trying to figure out my layout for this thing, so we'll see how it goes! I'll be posting real stuff soon!
