I've always wanted to do some kind of illustration with an Alice in Wonderland subject. Then I got the assignment in my digital painting class to make an illustration for a children's book and I couldn't pass it up. Actually I'm pretty sure my teacher came up with the idea, but I did always want to do it, I promise. I just forgot about it at the time, haha.
